Why Join a Ski Club?

A ski club is a great way to meet people with an active interest in winter sports.  Beginners may learn to ski or snowboard.  The more experienced skier or boarder looking to improve their technique will find someone in the club with similar goals.  Some of the trip destinations may have facilities for Nordic (cross country) skiing.  While each trip is different, there are usually members of all abilities, from beginner to advanced.

The club plans monthly activities and meetings throughout the year.  There are usually hikes and bike rides in the spring and fall.  The summer typically includes a float trip and a golf scramble.  Our annual Holiday Dance is in early December.

You may join the St. Louis Ski Club at any time, however, the best time to begin your membership is in April as the annual membership period begins on the first of May and runs through April 30th of the following year.

Members receive the club’s newsletter, The Sitzmarker, by mail.  They may also chose to receive the bi-monthly electronic newsletter, The Out & About, which also provides information about the activities of the St. Louis Ski Club.

When Can I Sign-Up for a Ski Trip?

Information on trip destinations is published in the September issue of the club’s newsletter, The Sitzmarker, which is made available to the members in mid-August of each year.  This trip information is also posted in our website shortly after the Sitzmarker is published,

Each year, the St. Louis Ski Club has its’ first monthly meeting of the ski season in September.  This meeting is also known as Sign-Up Night.  This evening allows members to meet other members and learn more about each trip.  At this time trip applications and deposits are accepted for the trip destinations.

Members may also send in their trip application(s) and deposit(s) before the Sign-Up Night to club’s mailing address.  Trip applications and deposits will be accepted after Sign-Up Night until the club closes the sign-up period for each trip.  This is dependent on the trip destination and may vary from mid-October to late December.

Remember, membership in the St. Louis Ski Club is a prerequisite to submitting your trip application and deposit for a ski trip.  You may join the club at any time.  Ideally, it is better if your annual membership begins during the renewal period in April.  This ensures that you will receive the September Sitzmarker which will contain the information about the trip destinations for upcoming ski season
